Anti-Hoodie

July 23, 2010

Crime has been an issue on Sacramento’s light rail, and Sacramento City Councilwoman Lauren Hammond thinks she has a solution: ban hoods, pointing out that it will be easier to catch criminals on surveillance cameras if they can be identified.

This tactic has been used in other areas, including the privately owned Adren Fair mall. Head of mall security, Steve Reed, said the dress code had lowered crime.  He also said “Obviously, you have to enforce it across the board … you can’t be selective on who you enforce it on.”   hmm… seems to me like a thinly veiled attempt to keep the (ahem!)  hoodie-wearing-type-of-people out of their private mall… (if you know what I mean…)!

Well, if Lauren Hammond wants to keep that type of Sacramento resident off Sacramento public transit…  …I’m just not sure what to say.

“hoodie wearing type of people”….i wear them to keep my ears and head warm or dry. Not everyone uses them to hide their faces from big brother. Next time I rob the store I’ll wear my sunglasses and tape my nose over to the side.
