Church of Pentecost is Relaxing. A Bit.

May 14, 2010

The Church of Pentecost in Ghana recently adjusted its dress code to allow dread-locked “Rastafarians” and women wearing pants to participate in services, and made it optional for women to cover their head, saying that there was no Biblical reason to cover women’s heads:

b. that, having fully examined the women head covering passage of 1 Corinthians 11:2-16, it has become obvious that what Paul wanted to put across is not clear;

…so if a disciple wasn’t really all that articulate in this instance…  what does that say about other sections of the Bible that people cite as evidence that people of other genders, races, sexualities, etc. should live by different rules…

I do, however, wholeheartedly agree with the section that states that your Sunday hairdo should “glorify god.”  Unfortunately they also add that it has to be conservative…  which completely rules out my top pick of a god-glorifying up-do:

The Church of Pentecost would also like people to “avoid the practice of cleavage.” …kind of makes “cleavage” sound like an art… or at least something that takes practice.  Makes it tempting to spend some time honing those cleavage skills, doesn’t it!
