CODE BREAKERS: Erykah Badu, Part 2

April 2, 2010

After filming her ‘Window Seat’ music video in Dallas, Erykah Badu faces a disorderly conduct charge.

Since the music video was shot on March 13th, the city has been waiting for a witness to come forward so that they could press charges.  Before any charge had been filed, the Dallas Mayor Pro Tem, Dwaine Caraway said “I don’t think it’s going to be something she would go to jail behind, but certainly the message has to be sent.”

Dallas’ Sgt. Warren Mitchell said “After much discussion, we feel that these charges best fit her conduct. She disrobed in a public place without regard to individuals and small children who were close by.”

In Dallas, a disorderly conduct charge comes with a maximum fine of $500, making this a purely symbolic charge.  She can either contest the charge or just pay the fine.
