Mini Skirt (and, um, Bermuda Shorts) Revolt!

March 31, 2010

school head-teacher in Essonne, France banned torn jeans and wearing garments that ended above the knee.  One reason for the strict dress code was the fear of students encountering “pedophiles on the way to school”.  (Pedophiles definitely come in handy when you’re trying to control what women wear!)  In response, students organized and 300 high schoolers came to school wearing mini skirts and short shorts for the girls, and Bermuda shorts for the boys.

The Essonne action had effect, another head-teacher said of the events “With 600 girls in my school, I am not going to risk banning [anything].”

Good for them.  No better time to stir things up a bit than… well, right now.
